Use the approach in your own provision

A licence lets you use The Freedom Approach name, principles and tools in your own provision, with your people trained and your setting listed. The licence is written to every provider as a colleague, not a competitor. Raising the standard anywhere raises it everywhere neurodivergent and disabled young people are taught.

Prices are published because small providers and home education and unschooling groups buy better when they can see the number. There is no two year lock in and no charge for leaving. Not sure which licence fits? Book a free 15 minute call.

Founding cohort, until 31 August 2027. The approach has a dated written record and weekly use since 2025, but no independent evaluation yet, and the price says so. Licences taken out before 31 August 2027 are 20 per cent off in year one. In return, founding members record a simple before and after wellbeing measure for the children they work with and take part in one practitioner interview, so the first cohort builds the evidence base and receives the findings. Renewals and the group tier are at the standard rate.

Which licence fits. The Freedom Approach licence is the pedagogy and its training, for practitioners, education packages, small providers and settings. A school or setting from Key Stage 1 to 4 that wants everything it is asked to show for inclusion, wellbeing, behaviour and attendance in one licence, with the curriculum, records and Quality Mark, takes OurVerse, which includes The Freedom Approach. Nurseries, preschools and childminders take The Early Years Ecosystem.

What happens, step by step

Step 1, a free call. A 15 minute conversation about your provision, the young people you work with, and whether the approach is right for you. No pitch. If you would like a longer conversation before deciding, a one hour scoping session is £150, credited against your licence if you join within sixty days.
Step 2, the agreement. You receive the licence agreement and the invoice or payment link. Payment is taken in full on signing. Card payments are handled by Stripe, and the card number is never seen or stored by us.
Step 3, training. Foundations for the team, recorded and self paced with a live question session, and the Practitioner course for your named leads in the next cohort, across one term.
Step 4, implementation review. A structured look at your provision against the four elements of practice, with a short written picture of where you stand and what to do first.
Step 5, coaching. Three coaching calls through the first term while the approach is put into practice. Not a folder handed over and left.
Step 6, listing. Once the approach holds up in practice, your provision is listed as a Freedom Approach Licensed Setting and receives the mark for its own materials.
Renewal. Each year, a practice review, the renewal fee, and continued access to tools, updates and reflection sessions.

What a licence means, and what it does not
It is a permission, renewed each year
A licence gives you permission to use the name, the mark, the principles and the tools in your own provision for twelve months, renewed on payment. It does not transfer ownership of anything. The Freedom Approach stays the intellectual property of Yasmin A Darling Consultancy Ltd.
It comes with a standard
Licensed settings work to all twenty five principles and the four elements of practice. The implementation review at joining, and the practice review at renewal, check that the approach is in place and not only on the wall. A licence can be withdrawn where practice falls below the standard, with notice and a chance to put it right.
It is not an inspection and not an accreditation
A Freedom Approach licence is not a regulatory judgement and does not replace Ofsted, the local authority or any statutory duty. It says that your provision has been trained in, and reviewed against, a named pedagogy. Nothing more is claimed.
It cannot be passed on
Materials and tools are for use within your licensed provision. They may not be sold, sublicensed, copied for others or used to train third parties, except under a group licence with train the trainer agreed in writing.
It is written down
The licence agreement is a short, plain English document. You see it before you pay. A typed name is a valid signature in England and Wales.
Time beyond what is included

Every licence lists exactly what it includes. Anything beyond that, such as an extra review, a day in your setting, a written report, a meeting with a commissioner, or help with a consultation response, is consultancy. It is charged at £150 an hour with a two hour minimum, or at the day rates on the training page. Nothing is done unpaid.

EOTAS and the national consultation

Education otherwise than at school has been consulted on. The Department for Education's consultation on EOTAS, which closed on 18 September 2026, asked whether national quality standards should apply to EOTAS provision, whether organisations delivering it should have to meet them, and proposed that every child on a package be connected to a named school or college responsible for managing it. A licensed, written pedagogy with a practice review is the shape of what that will ask for. If you deliver or commission EOTAS, please talk to me about the package licence.
