The evidence

What is evidenced, what is not yet, and what happens next

Commissioners and leaders are right to ask for evidence. This page answers plainly, so that a commissioner, a governor or a parent can read it in 5 minutes and know exactly where the approach stands.

What exists now

A written, dated pedagogy

I wrote The Freedom Approach down and dated it in July 2025, with twenty five principles and four elements of practice. The illustrated master edition is held by Yasmin A Darling Consultancy Ltd. A plain text edition followed in 2026.

Group use since 2025

The approach is in place across every Neuroverse Community CIC learning group, where neurodivergent and disabled young people attend with a parent or carer alongside them. It has held up in practice week after week.

Family and professional feedback

The consultancy behind the approach is rated 5.0 on Google, and the CIC holds its own reviews. Professionals are quoted by full name, exactly as they wrote.

31 years of practice

I have worked with children, young people and families since 1995. I was twice graded Outstanding by Ofsted as a registered early years provider, and I am multi award winning. Full detail is on the about page.

A theoretical base that is named

Monotropism, spoon theory, co-regulation, connection over control, intersectionality and children's rights are named and cited inside the pedagogy, not implied. See why it works.

You can also see the approach in practice in my one to one LAMDA lessons, online, open to every young person.

What does not exist yet

There is no independent evaluation, no controlled comparison, and no peer reviewed outcome study of The Freedom Approach. Nobody should tell you otherwise, and this site will not. The same is true of most models on the English market, including some very large ones, but that is not a defence. It is a gap, and it is being closed in the open.

How the evidence base is being built

Step 1, the logic model. A one page statement of inputs, activities, short term outcomes and long term outcomes, so that any evaluator knows exactly what the approach claims to change and how. Written and available to licence holders and commissioners on request.
Step 2, structured case studies. Dated practice written up in a fixed format: context, what was done, what changed, what evidence exists, and what the limits are. Anonymised, with consent, and never naming a child.
Step 3, the founding cohort. The first licensed settings form a pilot cohort. Each records a simple before and after wellbeing measure and takes part in one structured practitioner interview. This mirrors the innovation stage of the Education Endowment Foundation's own pipeline for early stage programmes.
Step 4, a university partner. An academic partner is being sought for a small, published evaluation with a named co-author. Licence holders are told when this is in place.
Step 5, publication. Findings from the founding cohort and the university partner will be published, so the pedagogy can be cited and commissioners have something to reference beyond this site.
If you are a researcher, an educational psychologist or a university department interested in evaluating a neuro-affirming pedagogy already running in practice, please get in touch. Field sites with a dated record are rare, and this one is open to scrutiny.

What colleagues say

Yasmin's knowledge and understanding of young people and neurodivergence is outstanding. I have been a teacher for 23 years but the way she explains this complicated area of working with young people is the best training I have ever had.Sarah Dowie, teacher
Yasmin came to our School of Larks circus venue and did a team training session with our teachers. It was fantastic! Yasmin is super knowledgable and up to date with everything Neurodivergent. It was such valuable training and Yasmin is both kind and confident in her teaching with a great sense of humour.Claudia Weston, School of Larks
